Good Finds at Goodwill

I have reached a point in my life where I can afford to pay full-price for clothes. Within reason, of course. But I’ve also reached a point in my life where the idea of overspending is so unattractive to me. Even though I have enough money in the bank to buy a new pair of leggings, why would I want to spend $50 on that? I could use that money for so many other things instead.

I went to my local Goodwill a few months ago and perused the athletic wear and was shocked at what I found: name brand items like Athleta, Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas. I found leggings, tanks, and jackets. Most of them look barely used, so better condition than many of the old, worn out clothes I usually wear for exercising. And the average price per item was $4.

Yellow Athleta pants and black Nike tank, both from Goodwill, about $4 each.
Black Nike leggings, Nike tank, and orange Nike running jacket, all from Goodwill about $4 each.

At first I was only buying branded athletic wear, but then I started looking at the regular clothes. I don’t consider myself very knowledgeable about style: I’ve noticed that when I’m shopping someplace like Marshall’s or Kohl’s, I’m subjected to what’s in style and in season at the time. But when I’m at Goodwill, I have to hold up the items and actually consider, do I like this? It’s been exciting for me to learn and develop my own sense of style!

Other noteworthy Goodwill finds:

Glass Christmas bulbs $3.14 per box
Basket and vase for a get well soon breakfast basket
Brand new with tags Able jeans (original price $148, got them for $8), black skinny jeans, and Old Navy boyfriend jeans with adorable floral embroidery
Vintage bar cart, glassware, and items for a Christmas gift

The other exciting thing about Goodwill is that the merchandise is continuously changing. So even though I’m there about once a week, there is always something new to find!
